Day 95: Serving a Faithful and Loving God

Biblical Principle: Absolute Truth from God’s Word

The Lord is love, true, and faithful. His covenant to those who love Him and keep His commandments is not limited.

In Deuteronomy 7:7-9, we are reminded of God's unwavering faithfulness to His people. It reads:
"The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;"

This passage offers us a profound glimpse into God's heart. He chose Israel not because of their greatness or number but because He loved them and because of His commitment to keeping the promises He made to their ancestors. His love and faithfulness are not bound by human logic or merit. God’s covenant is everlasting, extending to those who love Him and obey His commandments—reaching across generations.

Practical Application: Living Out the Biblical Principle

How do we apply this incredible truth to our everyday lives? The practical way to apply this principle is simple but profound: serve the Lord. Whether you’re inspired by His love, faithfulness, or mercy, the key is to serve.

God’s love for us is unconditional, and His faithfulness is unmatched. He keeps His promises no matter what we do or don’t do. He is faithful even when we are not. We serve Him not because we deserve His love but because He chose to love us. We serve Him not because we have earned His faithfulness but because He has been faithful to us from generation to generation.

This service is not about earning God's favor; instead, it’s a response to His deep and abiding love for us. It’s an act of worship, an expression of our gratitude, and a recognition of His goodness and faithfulness. Whether you serve in your local church, help others in your community, or live your life in a way that honors God, serving is the natural outflow of understanding His love and faithfulness.

God promises to bless and honor those who love Him and keep His commandments. The blessings may not always be material, but they will always be eternal. Just as He kept His promises to the Israelites, He will keep His promises to us. Serving Him is our way of participating in His covenant, fulfilling His purpose in our lives, and living out the truth of His Word in a world that desperately needs it.

Serving with Purpose

When we think about service, we must approach it with purpose. This is where the Christian walk becomes vital—it’s not about merely doing good deeds or fulfilling obligations. It’s about living intentionally, with the knowledge that we are serving a God who is faithful, loving, and true. Every act of service, whether big or small, is an opportunity to honor God and reflect His character to the world around us.

The truth is, we have many reasons to serve the Lord—because He loved us first, because He is faithful, because He has shown us mercy, and because He keeps His promises. Whether we serve Him out of one or all of these reasons, the important thing is that we serve. Our service reflects the love we have received and the faithfulness we witness in God’s character.

Conclusion: A Call to Serve

In our walk with the Lord, remember that we are called not to serve for reward but because of the overwhelming love, faithfulness, and mercy that He has extended to us. Let our service be a declaration of the truths we find in His Word and a response to the eternal covenant He has established with us. May we serve Him with hearts full of gratitude and lives that reflect His glory, knowing He is faithful in keeping His promises to those who love Him and obey His commandments throughout all generations.

So today, serve. Serve because He is worthy. Serve because He first loved you. Serve because His faithfulness is an anchor in your life. Serve, and do so with purpose.

Evangelist Dan Woltmann grew up in the home of full time Christian school teachers. Saved at the tender age of 5, Dan surrendered to preach at the age of 14; he preached his first sermon at 16 to his youth group. He was privileged to meet and to learn from many pillars of fundamentalism and outstanding preachers. From these men he developed a strong conviction on the truth of God’s Word.

Dan’s ministry experience is vast and varied. From starting four Christian service Bible clubs in college, to revitalizing churches and church ministries now for nearly 35 years. Direct one on one to ministry leaders as well as demostrating Biblical Worldview in the corporate world.
