Day 59: Following God’s Glory

Biblical Principle – Absolute Truth from God’s Word:

In Exodus 40:34-38, we witness a powerful scene where the glory of the LORD fills the tabernacle so fully that Moses himself is unable to enter. The glory of the LORD, in the form of a cloud by day and fire by night, is so overwhelming that the people of Israel must follow it wherever it leads. This was no ordinary cloud or fire; it was the visible manifestation of God's presence among His people, guiding them on their journey. When the cloud lifted, the people moved forward. When the cloud stayed, they waited.

The principle here is clear: Follow God's glory.

Everything else may shine brightly in the wilderness and draw our attention, but only God's glory leads to life and true fulfillment. The cloud in Exodus represents the absolute, unshakable truth of God's presence and guidance. If the glory of the LORD is present, we must follow it – not just when it is convenient but at all times and in all circumstances.

When we apply this principle to our lives, we are reminded that no matter how enticing other paths may seem, true peace and direction come only from following God's presence wherever it leads.

Practical – Works that Apply Biblical Principle:

It’s easy to get excited when we experience God’s powerful presence. Many times, we pray fervently for the presence of the LORD to fill our services, our hearts, and our worship. But the real test of our faith and obedience is not simply whether or not God's glory shows up—it's whether or not we follow it when it moves.

Think about it: When God’s glory is revealed, we often respond with awe, reverence, and excitement. But what happens when it moves? Are we willing to follow? Are we prepared to follow God's glory Monday through Saturday as He moves in our lives, or are we just content with the emotional highs of Sunday worship?

The real issue is not whether the glory of the LORD shows up in the service but whether we are willing to follow His presence outside of that moment. It's easy to follow the cloud when it's right in front of us, guiding our every step, but what about when it’s time to decide on Monday morning or when we face challenges during the week? Are we still willing to follow His glory and seek His will, or do we let other "shiny" distractions lead us astray?

If we only follow God's glory when it’s convenient or visible, we miss the opportunity to walk with Him daily. The children of Israel didn’t just follow the cloud when it was easy – they followed it wherever it went, whether it led them into the unknown or required them to wait in stillness. Similarly, we are called to follow God's leading every moment, even when the path is unclear or uncomfortable.

Are you ready to follow God’s glory wherever it leads? Not just in moments of church service but also in the ordinary and challenging moments of life? May we all learn to walk in step with His presence, trusting that He leads us toward life, truth, and eternal fulfillment.

Application:

  • Take a moment to reflect: How can you follow God’s glory more consistently in your life this week?

  • Commit to seeking God’s presence daily, in the high moments, and at every step of your journey.

  • Ask yourself: Are you willing to follow God’s leading in the challenging and easy moments?

May we all strive to follow God’s glory wholeheartedly, trusting His presence to guide us daily.

Evangelist Dan Woltmann grew up in the home of full time Christian school teachers. Saved at the tender age of 5, Dan surrendered to preach at the age of 14; he preached his first sermon at 16 to his youth group. He was privileged to meet and to learn from many pillars of fundamentalism and outstanding preachers. From these men he developed a strong conviction on the truth of God’s Word.

Dan’s ministry experience is vast and varied. From starting four Christian service Bible clubs in college, to revitalizing churches and church ministries now for nearly 35 years. Direct one on one to ministry leaders as well as demostrating Biblical Worldview in the corporate world.
