Day 51: A Willing Offering to God

The Bible is filled with principles that guide us toward living a life pleasing to God, and one of the foundational truths that stands out is the idea of a willing offering. Throughout Scripture, God emphasizes that our offerings—whether of time, talent, or treasure—should come from a heart eager to give. In Exodus 25:1-2, we find a clear instruction from God:

“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.” (Exodus 25:1-2)

This verse reveals that God desires us to offer willingly. He does not compel us to give but invites us to participate in His work with joy and gratitude. He does not want reluctant or forced offerings; He wants us to offer from a cheerful and willing heart.

The purpose of the offering is not just to meet the material needs but to further God's work on earth. In Exodus 25:8, we see the ultimate goal of these offerings:

“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.” (Exodus 25:8)

The offerings were to be used to create a sanctuary—a place where God could meet with His people. When we give, we do so not just for our immediate needs but also to advance the work of God’s kingdom and to allow His presence to dwell where His people gather.

Practical Application: Giving Out of Love and Purpose

How can we apply this principle in our own lives? Giving willingly is not just an action but a reflection of our hearts. We are called to give out of love, with a clear purpose, and with a heart that desires to honor God and bless others. In 2 Corinthians 9:7-12, we are reminded of the attitude we should have when giving:

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

When we give, it should be an intentional act of love. It is not about fulfilling an obligation but about reflecting the love and generosity that God has shown us. God does not want us to give because we feel forced or out of guilt. He wants us to give joyfully, knowing that our offering serves a greater purpose.

As we give willingly, God promises to bless us. He will supply our needs and increase the fruits of our righteousness. Our giving not only meets the needs of others but also brings glory to God, creating a cycle of thanksgiving and praise.

“Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.” (2 Corinthians 9:10)

God’s economy is built on the principle of sowing and reaping. When we give generously, He multiplies what we give and blesses us abundantly. This is not a promise of material wealth but of spiritual abundance—joy, peace, and satisfaction in knowing we are contributing to the work of God’s kingdom.

A Heart for Others and the Kingdom

The act of giving is not just for our benefit. It’s about ensuring that God’s work is carried out and that the needs of others are met. Our offerings—whether financial, of our time, or our talents—enable God’s ministry to thrive. Through our willingness to give, God’s kingdom expands, and His presence is made known in the lives of others.

“For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God.” (2 Corinthians 9:12)

Let us be intentional in our giving, not just out of obligation but out of a heart that desires to see God glorified and His work fulfilled. As we do so, we will experience the blessing of seeing God's work thrive and lives transformed.

Conclusion

God desires that we give willingly and generously out of love for Him and others. Our offerings—whether of money, time, or talent—are not just for the immediate needs but for the eternal purposes of His kingdom. As we give with a cheerful heart, we can trust that God will multiply our efforts and bless us in ways that glorify Him. May we continue to offer willingly, knowing our generosity will establish God’s sanctuary, presence, and work.
