Day 43: Trusting God’s Provision and Walking in His Commandments

In our daily walk with God, how we respond to His provision reveals much about our hearts. Are we walking in His commandments to love Him fully and others as ourselves? This principle is drawn directly from the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-40:

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Biblical Principle: Trusting and Obeying God

God’s provision in our lives is a sign of His faithfulness and a test of our obedience. In Exodus 16:4-5, the Lord provided manna for the Israelites in the wilderness, instructing them to gather only what they needed for each day and to gather twice before the Sabbath:

“Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.”

This act of daily provision was a divine test of trust and obedience. Would the people follow God’s instructions or act out of fear and self-reliance? Sadly, as we see in verses 27-28, some disobeyed and sought provision on the Sabbath, revealing their lack of trust in God’s sufficiency:

“And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?”

Practical Application: Praise and Stewardship

We must ask ourselves today: How do we respond to God’s provision? Do we hoard His blessings out of fear of lack, or do we trust Him to supply all our needs?

  1. Praise God for His Provision: Gratitude is key to following God’s commandments. Every provision, regardless of size, reminds us of His faithfulness. A heart of gratitude naturally leads us to worship and trust.

  2. Use His Blessings to Serve Others: God does not bless us solely for our benefit. As Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 8:13-15, our abundance is meant to meet the needs of others:

“At this time, your abundance may be a supply for their want, and their abundance may also be a supply for your want: that there may be equality.”

This principle of equality reflects God’s heart for community and mutual care. When we share our blessings, we mirror His love and trust Him to continue providing.

  1. Trust Him for Tomorrow: Just as God gave the Israelites enough manna for each day, He gave us what we need for today—and enough for tomorrow when necessary. When we trust Him fully, we can let go of worry and live in peace, knowing His provision is sufficient.

A Heart Check

Today, let’s examine our hearts and actions:

  • Are we acknowledging God as the source of all we have?

  • Are we generous with His blessings, using them to meet the needs of others?

  • Are we walking in faith, trusting Him to provide for the future?

As we align our hearts with His commandments to love Him and love others, we honor God and become conduits of His grace and provision in the lives of those around us.

Let’s remember: God’s provision is not just for us—it’s an opportunity to trust Him, obey Him, and show His love to the world.
