Day 39: Trusting God with Worldly Possessions

Biblical Principle: Absolute Truth from God’s Word
God owns everything by creation. Worldly possessions are not inherently evil; instead, people misuse those possessions, which can lead to sin. Sometimes, God redistributes worldly possessions, taking them away from the wicked and giving them to His people for His purposes.

A powerful example of this truth is found in Exodus 12:35-36:

"And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians."

In this passage, God uses His authority over creation to provide for His people. The Israelites, preparing to leave Egypt, were given treasures by the Egyptians. This wasn’t theft but God’s way of fulfilling His promise to His people and demonstrating His power over everything. The Egyptians gave their possessions willingly.

Practical Application: Using Worldly Possessions for God
This story challenges us to reflect on how we view and use God's material blessings. Worldly possessions are tools that can either glorify God or serve selfish desires. The key lies in how we choose to use them.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. Am I using worldly possessions to support my evil flesh?
Consider whether your material blessings are used to satisfy selfish ambitions or harmful habits. Are you allowing greed, pride, or indulgence to take root in your heart?

  2. Am I using worldly possessions to support my Lord and His people?
Reflect on how your resources can serve God’s kingdom. Are you generous with your time, finances, and possessions? Are you using what you have to bless others, support ministry work, or meet the needs of the less fortunate?

Living Out the Principle
God owns everything, so we are merely stewards of His blessings. Recognizing that our possessions ultimately belong to Him transforms how we handle them. Instead of clinging tightly to what we have, we are free to share, give, and invest in things that have eternal significance.

Prayer for the Day:Lord, thank You for the blessings You have bestowed on me. Help me use them wisely and for Your glory. Teach me to let go of worldly possessions and focus instead on

Evangelist Dan Woltmann grew up in the home of full time Christian school teachers. Saved at the tender age of 5, Dan surrendered to preach at the age of 14; he preached his first sermon at 16 to his youth group. He was privileged to meet and to learn from many pillars of fundamentalism and outstanding preachers. From these men he developed a strong conviction on the truth of God’s Word.

Dan’s ministry experience is vast and varied. From starting four Christian service Bible clubs in college, to revitalizing churches and church ministries now for nearly 35 years. Direct one on one to ministry leaders as well as demostrating Biblical Worldview in the corporate world.
