Day 32 Through The Bible
God's Timing and His Promise: Walking by Faith, Not by Sight
Day 32: Biblical Principle – Absolute Truth from God’s Word
God hears the cry of His people because of His promises to be fulfilled. God’s timing is always right.
Exodus 2:23-25 – "And it came to pass in the process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God because of the bondage. And God heard their groaning and remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And God looked upon the children of Israel and had respect unto them."
Practical Application – Walking with God, Even Through Pain
Today, I walk with God, no matter the pain or suffering. I may not see clearly why, but I always know Who.
2 Corinthians 5:1-7 – “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this, we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house from heaven… For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
The Cry of a People: God Hears and Responds
In the book of Exodus, we read about the Israelites who were suffering under the oppressive hand of Pharaoh in Egypt. For years, they endured the crushing weight of bondage. Yet, in Exodus 2:23-25, we see that God heard their cries. Their groaning—pain, sorrow, and longing for freedom—rose to heaven. And in response, God remembered His covenant with their ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God did not forget His promises.
The key truth here is that God’s timing is always perfect. The Israelites had waited for what felt like an eternity, but God knew the right moment to act. The passage emphasizes that God heard their cries and was moved by their suffering. And while the timing may not have been theirs, it was the perfect moment according to His divine plan.
The Israelites didn’t immediately understand the cause of their suffering. They might have wondered why it was taking so long or why their cries weren’t answered sooner. But they kept crying out, trusting that God had a plan and would fulfill His promises in His time.
God’s promises are steadfast. His covenant with His people depends not on their circumstances but His character. When He promises to deliver, He will. Though we may go through seasons of waiting and groaning, we can be sure that God hears and that He will act at the right time.
Walking by Faith Amid Pain
In 2 Corinthians 5:1-7, Paul speaks to a similar theme of suffering and longing, but in a different context. He talks about the earthly body, describing it as a “tent” that will eventually be dissolved. While we groan in our earthly bodies, Paul reminds us that we have a promise of something greater—an eternal home with God, not made by human hands, but by God Himself.
Just as the Israelites groaned in their bondage, we, too, groan in the trials of life. But Paul encourages us to keep walking by faith, even when we don’t understand everything. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” This means that, even when circumstances are complex and the path forward is unclear, we hold fast to the truth that God is with us, He has a greater purpose for our lives, and His promises are true.
Just like the Israelites who were waiting for their deliverance from Egypt, we, too, wait for a greater deliverance: the redemption of our bodies, our complete restoration in Christ, and the promise of eternal life with Him. It’s easy to get discouraged when we focus on the difficulties of life and the things we can see, but we are called to fix our eyes on what is unseen—the eternal promises of God.
Trusting God’s Timing in Our Lives
Sometimes, it feels like God is silent when our prayers seem to go unanswered. Seasons of suffering will test our faith and endurance. But we must remember that God’s timing is always right. The Israelites didn’t know when or how their deliverance would come, but God did. And in the fullness of time, He acted, fulfilling His promise.
Similarly, God hears our cries in our lives, even when they seem small or insignificant. He always works behind the scenes, even when we can’t see it. We may not understand the reasons for our pain or the delay in our answers, but we can rest assured that God is faithful to His Word. His promises are sure, and He will fulfill them.
Practical Application
So today, let us get up and walk with God, no matter what we face. The trials may be honest, the pain may be heavy, and the future may seem uncertain. But we don’t need to know why everything is happening—we only need to know Who is with us. We walk by faith, trusting God’s promises and perfect timing.
Just as God fulfilled His promise to the Israelites, He will fulfill His promises to us. We have an eternal home with Him, whether in this life or the next. And that hope—though unseen—is what we cling to as we walk by faith, not sight.
