Day 14 Through The Bible
Day 14: Faith, Righteousness, and the Truth of God's Word
Biblical Principle: The Truth Revealed
God's Word reveals a profound truth: God counts righteousness to those who believe in the LORD. This truth is vividly illustrated in Genesis 15:5-6 when God made a promise to Abraham.
"And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD, and he counted it to him for righteousness."
God took Abraham outside and pointed him to the heavens filled with countless stars. The stars were shown to Abraham not to visualize the size of the nation his descendants would form but to reveal God's infinite power and truth. The promise wasn't about numbers alone; it was a declaration of the vastness of God's authority and the faithfulness of His Word.
When Abraham believed that faith became the basis for God, counting him as righteous. This wasn't righteousness earned by works or merit but by trusting fully in the One who created and controls all things.
Practical Application: Walking in Faith
The Christian walk is rooted in deliberately applying Biblical principles. Faith isn't merely belief in the abstract; it is trusting in the character and promises of God.
John 3:16-21 underscores the depth of God's love and the purpose of faith:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved..."
Jesus came as the light of the world, offering salvation to all who believe. But there’s a choice:
Those who reject the light cling to darkness because their deeds are evil.
Those who embrace the light demonstrate that their actions are from God.
Just as Abraham trusted in God's promise, we are called to place our trust in Jesus Christ, who fulfilled God’s ultimate promise of salvation.
Answering the Hard Questions
Many people ask, "What makes Christianity unique? What about other religions?"
Here’s the answer: Christianity isn't just a system of beliefs or rules—it’s about the One who is both Creator and Redeemer. God is the source of all truth and righteousness. He alone has the authority to count someone righteous because He is the Creator of everything.
Jesus Christ, God's only Son, is the cornerstone of our faith. Through His death and resurrection, He made a way for humanity to be reconciled to God. No other belief system offers this—God's love and grace, freely given through faith in Jesus Christ.
A Call to Action
The truth of God's Word requires a response. Just as Abraham believed, we, too, must:
Trust in God’s promises: No matter the challenge, remember that God’s power and truth are bigger.
Live in the light: Allow your faith to shape your actions, reflecting God's glory in all you do.
Share the Gospel: Be ready to share the reason for your faith with others, pointing them to the only One who saves.
Faith is not passive; it is active, deliberate, and grounded in the unchanging truth of God’s Word. Will you step into the light today and walk by faith, just as Abraham did?
