Day 109 – The Call to Lead Right and Fight Right

Biblical Principle – Absolute Truth from God’s Word:
In a world that craves leadership but often rejects God’s design, Scripture reminds us that leadership is not a man-made platform for power but a divine appointment with sacred responsibility.

In Deuteronomy 17:14-20, God lays out a robust framework for what righteous leadership looks like among His people. He instructs Israel on choosing a king—not just any man, but one whom the LORD thy God shall choose. This leader must be one of the people, grounded in the same covenant community, not a stranger unfamiliar with the ways of God.

But notice the conditions:

  • The leader must not multiply horses, wives, or wealth.

  • His heart must not be lifted up above his brethren.

  • He is to write a personal copy of God's law and read it daily.

  • He must learn to fear the LORD, to keep His commandments, and to walk humbly in truth.

  • His stability and legacy depend on unwavering obedience.

These requirements do not limit the leader's freedom but protect the purity of leadership. God is clear: leaders are accountable first and foremost to Him and, by extension, to the generations that follow.

Practical Application – Works That Apply the Biblical Principle:

The New Testament echoes this same standard. In 1 Peter 5:1-11, Peter gives a charge to the elders—the spiritual leaders of the Church. These leaders are not called to rule with dominance but to serve humbly, to feed the flock, and to lead by example. They are to lead willingly, not for selfish gain, but with a ready heart.

The passage warns of pride, reminds us to stay humble, and urges vigilance against the adversary who prowls like a lion. But there’s also a promise: after suffering, God will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle His people.

These aren’t just commands—they are a call to action.

Leadership in the Kingdom is not about titles or popularity. It’s about responsibility, sacrifice, and unwavering truth. It’s about teaching, guiding, and guarding the flock with the heart of the Chief Shepherd. It’s about reading the Word not to check a box but to have it written on our hearts.

Fight Right. Lead Right. Follow Right.

These principles apply whether you are leading a family, a ministry, a business, or simply your own life.

  • Know the Word.

  • Walk in humility.

  • Stay grounded in truth.

  • Reject self-glory and serve the One who sets leaders in place.

  • Stand firm. Don’t waver.

  • Pass the torch of righteousness to the next generation.

The battle is real. But we’re not alone. We fight with the armor of God and lead with His truth. When we lead right, we fight right. And when we fight right, we can follow Christ fully, no matter where He leads.

To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
